INSPIRATION

“Why would anybody release a bunch of songs based on Fairy Tales in 2022?  Aren’t they outdated in by now?  In a word, “No”.

Look closer and you’ll see that these are modern stories about real life cultural issues we struggle with every day. 

Minority discrimination is laid bare in “The Ugly Duckling”; escaping abusive relationships is at the core of “Cinderella” and “Rapunzel”; and the perils of vanity, self obsession and abuse of power drive “The Emperor’s New Clothes” and “Snow White”.  The list goes on…

So to breathe new life into these lessons, I set about writing a series of songs where each song tells an entire fairy tale. I call them “StorySongs”.  And to sing these songs, I created, a mythical band called, OUTTA THE BOOKS.
